Scoop net of inland lagoon
Chita Lagoon, Nkhotakhota District (Africa-Malawi)
Scoop net of Chia Lagoon in the center of Lake Malawi. The lagoon is connected to the lake and becomes spawning place for fish. Its role is close to the inland lake of Lake Biwa. 50 years later, a road is constructed, but under the bridge, people are still using same type of scoop net. Material of the net has changed from cotton or bark fiber to synthetic fiber, but the structure of it has not changed. Since it's a relatively low-cost fishing method, even young people without much capital can stant the operation. (Y. Kada)
