Photo of a storm and a flood disaster
Kawaguchi,Nishi Ward, Osaka (Japan)
This photo is taken from a page of photo album, published by Osaka city, which shows damages caused by the Muroto typhoon in 1933 (Showa 8). From the explanation, "A shopping center of Nibancho Honden Nishi-district Osaka city inundated," 1812 of deaths, 9808 of injured, and 76 missing people were recorded as the disaster damege. Honden Niban-cho corresponds to Kawaguchi 1 chome or 2 chome of today. Since this area forms a delta in between two rivers, it is not difficult to imagine the damages they could experience. (A.
