Yuka under the Sanjyo Big Bridge of Kamo River
Ishihara Town, Nakagyo Ward, Kyoto (Japan)
Yuka is a temporal terrase built over the river in summer and it offers people a place to have parties. It was wisdom to enjoy cool air, during a hot and humide summer in Kyoto. During the Meiji era Yuka were built directly over the Kamo River, but after Muroto typhoon in 1934 (Showa 9) repairing work of the river was carried out and new river called Misosogi was constructed. Yuka are built over the Misosogi River. Banks of the river are well maintained and we can always find couples and people enjoy taking a walk. (A. Kobayashi)
