Meishin Expressway

Above is the picture of Meishin Expressway ( which connects Nagoya and Kobe) under construction. We can see that the way is broken through the hills well. In 1963 (Showa 38) the expressway was opened to traffic between Ritto andAmagasaki. And it was the beginning of the age when motorcars are the leading means of transportation.Viewing from the sky, we can see the expressway now runs exactly over the site of construction in the above picture. But the numbers of houses today are amazing. (A. Kobayashi)
