A journy to a wedding

Loading for a wedding near the first water entrance of the Canal of the Lake Biwa. In 1919 (Taisho 8), trousseaus of Mrs Yamakawa, who lived in Ootsu and moved to Kyoto by the marriage, were transported through the canal by boats till Keage and from Keage, they were carried by a car. The bride did not take a boat, she traveled by land. (A. Kobayashi)
