A canal has changed into a ditch

Yoshikawa, Chyuzu Town, Siga
(Japan)

Children enjoy boating on a canal. A place was a harbor and always several Tabune (boats) were moored. "Those children rowed any boat out to the nearby swamp or so, always without permission," says Hideto Yoshikawa who lives in the neighborhood. Enjoying catching fish or skating in winter the canal was an ideal place for the children. Today, however, only a narrow ditch is seen. (A. Kobayashi)
