Yodo River Basin Yodo River flows into Osaka Bay while gathering Seta and Uji River which flow out of Lake Biwa in Shiga prefecture, Kizu River from Mie and Nara prefectures, and Kamo and Katura River from Kyoto prefecture. Surface of the basin is 8240km2 and along the basin, ancient capitals such as Kyoto and Nara, spiritual homes of Japanese cultures, were developed. The basin also served for transporting material to Osaka, a commercial city once called "city of water". Today the basin supplies not only the water for both industrial and non industrial needs, but also the important space of relaxation for people who live among big cities. |
